Expectations
Your journey of enlightenment will not end here in my company
I captained the waves, like others before,
On a handsome deck, inscrutable below,
From time to time, I anchored askew,
Amidst kith and kin, yet without a clue.
Landing on islands hopelessly claimed,
With towering cities, histories draped.
Lost in a puzzle, on ship and shore,
I abandoned post, in search for more.
I soon ran aground, on no-man’s land,
With skies, streams, and earth unclad,
There I fashioned, my towers of light,
For passing vessels to share my sight.
But most sailed on, to lands ablaze,
Fireflies burning, in endless chase.
And while you visit, with tales to relay,
To make your own, you will go away.
